Winter storm warning expires, cold weather advisory in effect until 7 p.m.

A winter storm warning issued by the National Weather Service expired at 7 a.m. today, but a cold weather advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. today.

An Extreme Cold Warninng is in effect from 7 p.m. today through 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Bartholomew County’s travel status remains at warning, meaning only emergency personnel should be on the roads.

Blowing and drifting snow is expected today through Tuesday, according to Bartholomew County Emergency Management. Wind gusts of 35 mph are forecast for today, and 30 mph tonight and Tuesday.

Arctic air arriving late this week will be reinforced by multiple Arctic cold fronts next week, prolonging the cold conditions.

Rapid river ice formation and thickening is expected on area rivers and streams over the next week.
