The program offers free tax filings to Bartholomew County residents who make $70,000 or less. IRS-certified volunteers provide confidential and secure basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals, according to a press release.
Individuals who want to file for free online can go to myfreetaxes.com. More information can also be found at uwbarthco.org/your-impact/taxes.html or by going to uwbarthco.org, clicking on “Impact” and then “Tax Assistance.”
Appointments can be made by calling the United We Help Line at 812-375-2216 anytime between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Assistance is available by appointment only.
Income tax appointments will be conducted through mid-April at the Doug Otto United Way Center. Reservations for a tax appointment will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
