Philip A. Harlow Sr. passed from this life January 27, 2026, at Hickory Creek of Columbus. Born on September 19, 1939, in Hope, Indiana, Phil was the beloved son of the late Howard and Pearl Phillips Harlow.

Phil was a U.S. Navy veteran. Phil embarked on a successful career as a retail manager in the appliance and home entertainment center industry. His leadership and expertise were well-respected by his colleagues and those who had the pleasure of working under his guidance.

Later in his career, Phil served as a brokerage representative for Indianapolis Food Products, where he eventually retired. His work ethic and professionalism were hallmarks of his character, earning him the respect and admiration of both his peers and competitors in the industry.

On July 30, 1964, Phil married the love of his life, Zandra K. “Sandy” Fisher, who preceded him in death on May 2, 2025. Their union was one of mutual respect, deep affection, and unwavering support. Phil will be remembered by his children, Philip (Susan) Harlow Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky and Victoria Fischer of Columbus; grandchildren, Zachary (Nicole) Fischer, Holly Fischer, William (Amanda) Hipple, Michael Fischer and John (Erin) Fischer; great-grandchildren, Ella and Eden Hipple and Lillian, Vincent, Heidi, Bailey and Alex Fischer; sister, Ramona Harlow and her husband, Robert Cason of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Phil was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son-in-law, Michael F. Fischer; brothers, Lloyd and Howard Harlow; and sister, Hester Dailey.

Phil’s interests and hobbies were as diverse as they were passionate. He was very involved in the L-5 Society and served as the past president of the Columbus chapter. His interest in astronomy and space was more than a pastime; it was a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and understanding of the cosmos. An avid outdoorsman, Phil found solace and joy in hunting, fishing, and immersing himself in the beauty of nature. His competitive spirit shone brightly whenever he engaged in a game of chess, a pastime he approached with the same strategic mind that served him well in his professional life.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Virgil Clotfelter will officiate. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Phil will be laid to rest with his wife in the Garland Brook Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
