Hank Redman // Columbus East junior wrestler

Redman won all four of his matches by pin, including two in less than 25 seconds, to win the 285-pound weight class and help lead the Olympians to a runner-up team finish in the Jennings County Sectional.

His performance last week: “I guess I listened well to my coaches, so that kind of attributed to me wrestling well.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I drink water, I eat bananas and I go to bed kind of early the night before and get some rest.”

Favorite drink: “Out of season, Mountain Dew, but my favorite thing to drink in general is milk.”

Favorite food: “I love the Basil Fried Rice at Thai Connection, with beef and steak in it.”

Favorite class: “Government with Mr. (Troy) Buntin.”

Favorite sports team: “Notre Dame”

Favorite athlete: “Abe Lincoln. He was a former wrestler.”

Role model: “Jesus, and then Ernest from the Ernest Movies.”

Best advice: “Before a match, just go out there and wrestle, and it will take care of itself.”

Athletics goal: “I want to be a state champion.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Alaska, because it looks nice from what I see in magazines.”

Abby Manley

Manley led the Jets with 15 points, hitting the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, in Thursday’s 53-51 win at North Decatur. She added six points in Saturday’s 39-38 loss to Christian Academy of Indiana.

Her performance last week: “In the North Decatur game, I just pushed to try as hard as I could and get a win for our team since we were on a losing streak.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Usually, I just like to eat something before the game to get the fuel to play good, and then I like to get some form shots up before the game.”

Favorite drink: “Blue Gatorade”

Favorite food: “Chicken tenders”

Favorite class: “Food Science”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University”

Favorite athlete: “(Former IU basketball player) Sydney Parrish”

Role model: “My parents (Luke and Tara Manley) because they push me to be the best that I can.”

Best advice: “Just work hard and push to be the best that you can every day.”

Athletics goal: “Probably to play in college if that comes up, but also to score 1,000 points in my high school career.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Hawaii, because it’s just really beautiful, and I’d like to see all the cool things they have there.”
