David Henry Panning, 53, of Bloomington, passed from this life, Sunday, February 1, 2026 at his home. Born May 25, 1972, in Hamilton, Ohio, David was the cherished son of Ronald H. and Kathy S. Martin Panning.

David was known for his warm heart, quick wit, and the way he could make anyone laugh. He was deeply loved by his many friends, who often described him as a light in their lives and someone who showed up with genuine kindness and compassion. David understood hardship and met others with empathy, always willing to offer encouragement and support. Above all else, he was an exceptional father who led with patience, gentleness, and quiet strength, never raising his voice and always loving deeply. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the example he set for his family.

David’s life was a testament to his enduring love for his family.

Survivors include his parents; children, Kaitlin Rose (Connor J.) Blackburn of Columbus and Kendall Sue Panning of Bloomington; his beloved stepchildren, A.J. Sherman of Columbus, Shelby Jo, and Aliyha both of Bloomington; and his adored grandchildren, Jackson James and Hudson Henry Blackburn. David was also a beloved brother to Laura (Mark) Beggs of Alexandria, KY, and Mark (Emily) Panning of Pasadena, CA.

David Henry Panning will be deeply missed, but his light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved him.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard Boles and Randy Blackburn officiating.

Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026 at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and 9:30 a.m. to time of service Saturday at the church.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation will take place following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of David to benefit his daughter, Kendall. A trust account will be established for her needs; checks may be made payable to Kaitlin Blackburn.
