All 19 area regional wrestling qualifiers advance to semistate

JEFFERSONVILLE — All 19 of the local wrestlers who competed in Saturday’s Jeffersonville Regional advanced to semistate with top-four finishes.

Columbus East went 11 for 11 an finished second behind Franklin in the team standings. Columbus North and Jennings County each went 4 for 4.

East’s Ethan Poling (132 pounds) and Colin McMahon (190) avenged losses in last week’s sectional to win regional titles, and Caleb Cooper (157), Lincoln Cooper (175) and Hank Redman (285) added regional victories to their sectional triumphs. Ty Brueche (126), Caleb Kirkpatrick (150) and Clayton Miller (215) all finished second; Joel Smith (106) and Cam Cooper (144) each took third and Aiden Miller (165) was fourth.

North’s Cohen Long avenged a sectional loss to Kirkpatrick to win the 150-pound title. Asher Ratliff fell to Lincoln Cooper in th 175-pound final, Servando Lozano (285) finished third and Darrell Hicks (190) took fourth. The Bull Dogs were sixth as a team.

Jennings finished seventh as a team. Carter Mikels (113) placed second, Luke Kirchner (138) and Gomie Gomez (215) took third an Brady Franks (144) was fourth.

The semistate is Feb. 14 at Ford Center in Evansville.
