
The Columbus Flames 14U Blue team won the Cardinal Division at the Indiana State Governors Cup Sunday at the Fuel Tank in Fishers. Two Columbus Flames 14U hockey teams won their divisions at the Indiana State Governor’s Cup Championships last weekend at the Fuel Tank in Fishers.
The Flames 14U Blue team competed in the highest division, the Cardinal Division. They beat the South Bend Irish Rovers 2-1 in the semifinals on a goal by defenseman Ben Scott with 1:10 left in the game. The Flames trailed Fort Wayne PSM Force 2-0 in the title game before rallying with four unanswered goals to win 4-2.
Nolan Sparkman led the Flames with four goals and five assists in the five-game state tournament. Logan Barringer netted three goals and one assist, Carter Harris and Carsen Sims each recorded two goals and three assists, Luke Getchell had two goals and one assist, Sam Olsen scored two goals, Bentley Hampton notched one goal and three assists, Scott tallied one goal and Caleb Peterson added two assists.

The Flames 14U Orange won the Hoosier Division. They avenged a loss in round-robin play by beating Indy Jr. Fuel White 3-2 in overtime. Declan McGurk scored the game-winner off assists from Evan Armuth and Blake Schneider.
Armuth led the Flames with three goals and added two assists in the four-game state tournament. Schneider finished with two goals and two assists, Miles Gill netted two goals and one assist, McGurk recorded one goal and two assists, Elijah Allen and Henry Meredith each had one goal and one assist, Oliver Smith notched four assists, Nathan Huffman tallied two assists and Hallie Mudd and Luke Powers each added one assist.
