Mridula Muthukumaran
INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North junior Mridula Muthukumaran finished 26th in Friday night’s preliminaries of the 200-yard individual medley at the Girls Swimming and Diving State FInals.
Muthukumaran swam 2 minutes, 13.70 seconds, which was a couple seconds off her sectional-winning time from last week. She would have needed a 2:07.04 or better to claim one of the top 16 spots and a berth in Saturday’s consolation finals or a 2:03.49 for a top-eight spot and a berth in the championship finals.
Ellie Clark had the fastest qualifying time in the 200 IM with a 1:59.36.
Muthukumaran, who was the lone area individual to qualify for state, was making her second appearance at the state meet after qualifying in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly last year.
