City officials approved the purchase of a new brine machine for $43,250 for the Department of Public Works.
The current VariTech brine machine is 22 years old and needs to be replaced. The new machine comes from Brine Boss and will automate the brine-making process to help ensure consistency and eliminate the need for manual mixing.
The DPW uses brine to treat the roads before bad storms to keep motorists safe in bad weather conditions.
