COLUMBUS, Ind. — The Columbus Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened this afternoon in the 1900 block of Cottage Avenue.
At 3:41 p.m. on Wednesday, local first responders were called to the area for a shooting, according to Lt. Skylar Berry, CPD spokesman.
When law enforcement arrived, they found an 18-year-old female that had been shot. As part of the investigation, a male is detained and a firearm has been recovered, Berry said.
The female was transported by emergency medical personnel and taken to an Indianapolis hospital.
CPD detectives were immediately called to the scene and are actively investigating. Based on the initial investigation, there is no danger to the public, Berry said.
