Looking Back – March 23

Members of the local Yorkrite DeMolay chapter washed Columbus Police Department cars on March 20, 1976, as a public service as part of National DeMolay Week.

Wendy Graham, owner of Simply Pottery, was the first retailer to open at a once-abandoned warehouse along Central Avenue, which was converted into 14 available spaces by Orinoco Properties.

2001

Kimberlee Carter, Erica Renicker and Margie Campbell were the winners of the Columbus Regional Hospital Foundation’s Borczon Scholarship Fund, which encourages workers who plan to pursue or further a health-related career through post-secondary education.

1976

The Columbus Park Department began removing the 7-year-old Mill Race Playhouse after it was severely damaged by wind the previous year. The building had been damaged by wind a total of three times.
