Grace walks-off Crimson Pride twice

WINONA LAKE — IU Columbus dropped a pair of close games Tuesday at Grace College, falling 8-6 and 7-5.

The Crimson Pride rallied from a 6-2 deficit in the opener with four runs in the top of the seventh to tie it, but Grace won it in the bottom of the seventh. Wyatt Sutton went 3 for 3 with a double, and Jennings County graduate Carson McNulty had a double and two RBIs. Gavin Haltom, the fifth of five IUC pitchers, took the loss.

Grace again won on a walkoff in the second game, scoring four times in the bottom of the seventh. Daulton Phillips went 2 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs, and Trey VanMeter went 2 for 3 with a home run. Haltom, the fourth of four Crimson Pride pitchers, took the loss.

IUC (6-26) will visit Brescia for a single game Friday and a doubleheader Saturday. The next home games are a single game April 10 and a doubleheader April 11 against Kentucky Christian.
