Hoosier Action to hold town hall for Senate candidates

The Columbus Chapter of Hoosier Action will host a town hall in Columbus next month with candidates running for Indiana Senate District 41.

The town hall will be from 6 to 8 p.m. April 9 at Unitarian Universalist Church, 7850 W. Goeller Blvd., in Columbus. The event is open to the public and will include a Q&A session with the candidates.

People who are interested in attending can register at www.hoosieraction.org/events.

“We will ask the candidates questions about public education, affordability and other issues that are important to the community,” according to a description of the event on Hoosier Action’s website.

The District 41 seat is currently held by Sen. Greg Walker, R-Columbus, who is seeking re-election this year. He is being challenged by Rep. Michelle Davis, R-Whiteland, in the Republican primary on May 5.

Bartholomew County Democratic Party Chair Ross Thomas is running unopposed for his party’s nomination for the seat.

As of Thursday afternoon, Walker and Thomas had confirmed they plan to attend the town hall, said Jake Brooks, the leader of the Columbus chapter.

Organizers said they have invited Davis but had not yet received a response.

District 41 includes all of Bartholomew County and a portion of Johnson County.
