COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Emergency Management said the National Weather Service is tracking an active and wet weather pattern expected to impact Bartholomew County from today through the weekend, with multiple rounds of showers and storms possible.
Wind gusts of 30–40 mph are expected at times today and again on Thursday.
A marginal risk for severe weather is in place for Bartholomew County from 7 p.m. Tuesday night to 2 a.m. Wednesday. While our area is not in the highest risk zone, isolated strong storms and locally heavy rainfall remain possible, particularly overnight.
There is potential for additional rounds of heavy rainfall and possible severe weather:
• Late Thursday
• Late Saturday
Preparedness Actions
• Stay weather aware and monitor forecasts closely
• Have multiple ways to receive warnings (NOAA Weather Radio, Wireless Emergency Alerts, weather apps)
• Do not drive through flooded roadways — Turn Around, Don’t Drown
• Secure loose outdoor objects ahead of strong winds
• Be prepared to move indoors immediately if warnings are issued
