“Houses of Horror: Secrets of the Greek Life” (9 p.m., A&E, TV-14) explores fraternity life and its impact on college society.

Culture wars and cancel culture loom large in the short documentary “The Turning Point: To Be Destroyed” (9 p.m., Sunday, MSNBC). The film follows author and publisher Dave Eggers as he travels to Rapid City, South Dakota, to meet with teachers and school board members after his novel “The Circle” was pulled from the shelves.

Apple TV+ streams the 2024 heist drama/comedy/thriller “The Instigators” after a weeklong theatrical run. It’s a Casey Affleck and Matt Damon vehicle, so you know it’s going to be set in the grungier side of greater Boston, featuring many broad vowels, F-bombs and an athletic use of obscenity and pop-culture-drenched chitchat.

With the eyes of many sports fans riveted to Peacock for Olympics coverage, the NBC-affiliated streamer launches “Mr. Throwback,” a mockumentary-style comedy set in the world of sports management and memorabilia.

Kids and teens

Netflix imports “Lolo and the Kid” from the Philippines. It seems you have to scour the world to find a sentimental movie that hews close to comedy themes once common in Hollywood entertainment. Lolo is a hustler who takes in a homeless child from the streets and teaches him to live by his wits. Together they con clueless rich people out of their money.

Nothing says August quite like the glut of back-to-school commercials, the kind you cannot escape while watching coverage of the Paris Olympics. Tonight’s “Primetime in Paris: The Olympics” (8 p.m., NBC) presents coverage of track and field and diving.

With so much mean-spirited talk of “childless cat ladies,” it’s easy to forget that some of the most cat-obsessed are, in fact, children. Now in its 10th glittering season, the Netflix kids’ series “Gabby’s Dollhouse” explores the frantic action in tiny, sparkly, pastel-rific dwellings designed by kids especially for their kitty friends.

Netflix taught most of us to watch programs whenever we want. But occasionally, it breaks into the “live” programming business, hearkening back to the days of “appointment TV.”
