“Welcome to My World”
The Art of Bernard Worby, Jr.
Perceptions Yoga, Mindfulness and Art is pleased to announce the January 2023 artist of the month, Bernard H. Worby Jr, showing his digital artwork from Jan. 6 to Jan. 27, 2023. The closing reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at Perceptions in Vernon.
Now residing in Jennings County, Bernie grew up in Washington State and is an electrical engineer by trade. In the early 1960’s, he was introduced to and fascinated by the incredible pictures that could be created in the world of 35 mm photography and later 80 mm. “It was amazing to capture a moment in time to enjoy and save it forever in all of its details and beauty.” He went on to play with time lapse photography.
Bernie served in the US Air Force from 1964-68 and then started working on large mainframe computers. With the advent of home computers in the late 70’s, he played with computer art in the late 80’s on the Commodore Amiga computer. This new art technology was fascinating, but computers were so slow and the resolution on the monitors was very low. “My early efforts were in ray tracing and fractal art.”
Bernie has had his computer art displayed in Washington state, Ann Arbor, Michigan and in California galleries, Coal Art Gallery in Carlsbad and the Offtrack Gallery in Encinitas. He was the Director of the Coal Art Gallery for two years. He has won numerous high awards in both galleries, including the best of show and featured artist.
“With computer art I can create pictures of anything I can imagine- abstracts, landscapes and seascapes. I typically like doing abstracts the best. In the abstract world of computer art, I can see and experience another dimension that is truly awesome, which very few ever experience. I design the scene and the computer creates the final results. This fascinating world of computer art has only two limits, TIME and IMAGINATION, and I have a lot more imagination than I have time!
