BLOOMINGTON — For the first time since Columbus Christian brought back its girls basketball program four seasons ago, it defeated Bloomington Lighthouse.
The Crusaders won Tuesday’s game at Bloomington Lighthouse 53-52.
Rachel Warren had an offensive rebound and put-back with 48 seconds left to give Columbus Christian its first lead of the game at 51-50. The Lions’ Sarah Waldo scored on the next possession to get the lead back at 52-51.
Then the Crusaders’ Macy Wingham worked free for a driving bucket and the game-winner with 11 seconds left.
Wingham had 18 points for Columbus Christian, which is 16-2, while Tori Robinson had 17 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals.
“We’ve got work to do,” said Columbus Christian coach Ron Bridgewater. “We’ve got a great record, but we’ve got to get after it every night. We can’t decide to start playing in the final two minutes.”
