2005

Ground was broken for a two-year renovation project at Community Center of Hope. The project included a new roof, windows, restrooms and entrance and construction of a 9,000-square-foot building to house a fitness center, locker rooms, offices, a rehabilitation center and a community room.

1990

State and local officials gathered to break ground for a $39.9 million expansion and renovation project at Bartholomew County Hospital.

1965

A Columbus Marine, Lieutenant Dale Eddy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Eddy of Columbus, was seriously injured when the helicopter he was piloting was shot down in combat over Vietnam. A few days later, the Eddys were told their son was injured but would survive.
