Road to close for culvert replacement

The Indiana Department of Transportation will close State Road 7 at Cooke Creek beginning Friday for the replacement of a failing drainage structure.

Dave O’Mara, the contractor, will install a new concrete box culvert at Cooke Creek, located 3.6 miles south of U.S. Highway 31 in Rockcreek Township near Elizabethtown. State Road 7 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. June 15.

A detour route will guide motorists around the closure via U.S. 31, U.S. 50 and County Road 750.

INDOT officials said a second weekend closure, June 19 to 22, might be required to complete pavement widening, guardrail installation and other tasks included in the contract.
