E. Charlene Stapp, 78, passed away at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin on Sunday, June 21, 2015.

She was a police dispatcher for Edinburgh and Hope Police departments and also had been Hope Town Marshal, the first woman town marshal in Indiana.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, genealogy, and especially enjoyed cooking for family dinners.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Pastor Robert Vester officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Edinburgh Fireman’s Cheer Fund through the funeral home.

Born January 25, 1937, in Decatur County, Charlene was the daughter of Harry Saylor and Wanita Richards Beach. She married Adron “Dee” Stapp on September 10, 1954, and he preceded her in death on July 9, 2012.

Survivors include daughters, Anita (David) Frazee of Edinburgh, Bonnie Lawson of Edinburgh, DeeAnn (Carl) Hitchcock of Hartsville, and Janie Bailey of Edinburgh; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marion “Bud” (Elaine) Saylor of Columbus, Bill (Ann Marie) Saylor of Naples, Florida, Don (Irene) Saylor of Shelbyville, Tennessee, and Linda (Rick) Caswell of Seymour; and several nieces and nephews.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, granddaughter, Amber Frazee, and great-grandson, Kiegan Frazee.
