Bull Dogs take fourth in invitational

HENRYVILLE — The Columbus North girls golfers ran into some of the state’s top teams Saturday and finished fourth in the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational at Champions Pointe.

Top-ranked and defending state champion Evansville North won the 16-team event with a 299. No. 16 Floyd Central took second with a 309, while No. 12 Evansville Memorial was third with a 317 and the No. 3 Bull Dogs finished with a 327.

“We didn’t play our best,” North coach Scott Seavers said. “We left some strokes out there, but we know the what we need to work on.”

Holly Anderson tied for fifth with a 74. Alex Munnicha carded an 81, while Danbi Kim added an 85, Aubrey Smith shot 87 and Julia Luken had a 90.

“I was happy with the way Holly battled today,” Seavers said. “Alex was also steady all day long and provided a good score for us.”

Seymour finished 14th with a 441. Hannah Thompson led the Owls with a 90, while Bailey Goben carded a 100, Andrea Axsom added a 114, Jenna Ebler shot 137 and Kara Rice had a 145.

Jennings County took 16th with a 466. Kassi Whitehead lead the Panthers with a 90, while Peyton Whitehead added a 124, Allie Clark and Sydney Campbell each shot 126 and Marina Sigmund had a 135.
