Redevelopment commission extends consultant’s contract

A contract for a consultant to work with Columbus Redevelopment Director Heather Pope on city projects has been extended to Dec. 31.

The contract for Doug Pacheco, who was hired as a consultant in October 2014 by the Columbus Redevelopment Commission, had been set to expire Sept. 15.

The commission voted Monday to extend the contract, which pays Pacheco a rate of $30 per hour or up to $60,000 per year for assisting with city projects.

Among the projects Pacheco has been working on including forming an industrial park at the former Walesboro Airport, State Street Revitalization on the east side of Columbus and downtown redevelopment.
