• whoever is responsible for taking care of the entrance to Harvest Meadows subdivision, which looks nice.

• Mike Green for the great job repairing large potholes downtown, from Tomala Hawkins.

• Harrison Lake Country Club golf grounds and dining room staff for their truly exceptional jobs hosting the D-4 Invitational tournament.

• Doug Southern for the beautiful job on my new roof and gutters, from a grateful customer.

• the Columbus Police Department for the concern on the welfare check on Fall Valley Drive on Sunday afternoon, from a grateful neighbor.

• Danny Johnson for his help, from a friend.

• Audrey and Nate for the terrific job helping Grandma with her yard work.

• Robbie Amos for completing one year with Jennings County Sheriff’s Department, from Holly Amos.

• the honest person who turned in my lost purse at Walmart on Saturday.

• the wonderful mail delivery lady in Northbrook Addition for taking care of the elderly gentleman’s keys on Autumn Ridge Drive.

• local career tax-and-spend politicians.

• the company that treats its employees badly and doesn’t comply with OSHA rules.

• the water company for not being able to respond to all of the outage calls when the water went out Sunday.

• special-interest groups who think they are entitled to unlimited taxpayer support.

• the drivers who think Goeller Boulevard is an interstate highway as they travel 60 mph or faster on our road.

• owners of nice purses who use vouchers; I would sell my purse before taking handouts.

• people who claim to be experts on the history of Columbus but haven’t lived here before 2000.

• the local softball organization that waits until it’s too late for teams to go to a different ballpark before telling them they are not allowed to play in their leagues.

• the locally based company that should be embarrassed by one of its employees’ comments going against the company’s community-involvement culture while serving on a public board.

• golfers who wear white shorts but shouldn’t.

• those who are responsible for letting the Bartholomew County Courthouse deteriorate.

• the public official who has not conceded a political loss nor shown any sign of good sportsmanship such as congratulating the winner.

• the highway department that made County Road 550N unsafe for cyclists due to the chip-and-seal repair.

• the renters within city limits with chickens in their unfenced yard, as no one else wants your chickens or cats in their yards.

• dog walkers who show no respect for others when it comes to their pets using people’s yards without owners cleaning up afterward.

• the law enforcement head that pulls officers from the road for public-relations events and then complains about manpower.

• grown men who urinate on the toilet seat or don’t flush after using the restroom at work.

• the two people with dogs at the farmers market dog park who yelled at my wife.

• event planners in downtown Columbus for not publishing when there would be street closings.

• the woman who likes to see her name in the paper several places each day.

• the fast-food workers who can’t get a simple sandwich order right and then want $15 per hour.

• big trucks who haul gravel or trash and don’t use tarps.

• those who do not understand what a welfare check is all about when it comes to elderly individuals.

• factories that use a service to hire temporary workers who work hard and are disrespected by regular employees.

• the school corporation that uses incapable bus drivers to transport my children to and from school every day.

• the defeated politician and supporters for being corrosive to the city of Columbus and the Republican party.

• representatives at the mobile home park that are still making excuses for not having security lights for a year now.

• the restaurant that failed to set up tables and chairs for senior confirmation class and had scrambled eggs, burnt quiche, cold biscuits and gravy for a 1 p.m. lunch.
