Cummins Inc. announced its plan to burst into a new Chinese market segment by launching a joint venture to produce engines for large trucks with Shaanxi Automobile Group Co.

1990

Good-natured destruction was the lunchtime theme at Columbus East High School as students paid a quarter for a turn at smashing a sledgehammer into an old car, representing what the Olympian football team was going to do to Bedford-North Lawrence at East’s homecoming game. The quarters went to help finance a dance after the game.

1965

Construction of the Irwin Union Bank and Trust Co. Taylorsville branch began on a 2-acre plot at the northeast corner of U.S. 31 and Tannehill Road. Completion was planned for April 1966.
