Drive and Putt Contest coming to Greenbelt

Columbus East senior Will Mayhew is conducting the Andy Critzer Drive and Putt Contest for his senior project from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at Greenbelt Golf Course.

There will be driving contests for students, men and seniors, and putting contest for all ages. Cost is $10 for seven putts and drives. Prizes will be awarded to winners, and the first 60 participants will receive two golf balls.

Proceeds will benefit the Andy Critzer Memorial/Heritage Fund.

North boys lacrosse to have open practices

Columbus North boys lacrosse will conduct open practices from 5 to 6:30 p.m. the next three Wednesdays at the rugby field behind Parkside Elementary School.

Practices are for North boys lacrosse players and any high school boy wanting to try out the sport. Coach Alex Gorczya will run the practices.

Winter league basketball tryouts scheduled

Columbus North basketball will conduct tryouts for its second- through sixth-grade winter league play on Friday and Saturday at North High School.

Tryouts for fifth- and sixth-graders will be from 7:45 to 9 p.m. Friday at the conclusion of the Friday Skills Camp. Tryouts for Grades 2 through 4 will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Registration open for Legends of Indiana event

Friday is the deadline to register for the Legends of Indiana Basketball Golf Classic, which will be at 12:15 p.m. Oct. 2 at Maple Creek Golf and Country Club in Indianapolis. There will be a Legends Autograph Session from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., and registration and lunch will be from 11 a.m. to noon.

Cost is $100 per player or $400 per foursome and includes a cart, lunch and prizes. Sponsorships are also available.

Saturday Morning Sports Injury Clinic available

Southern Indiana Orthopedics will offer its Saturday Morning Sports Injury Clinic again this year from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturdays.

Jennings to conduct Drive One 4 UR School

Jennings County High School and Garlitch Ford will host the Ford Drive One 4 UR School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the school’s front parking lot.

Drivers must be at least 18 and are limited to one test drive per household. The school will earn $20 per test drive.

North girls basketball team hosting fundraiser

The Columbus North girls basketball team is conducting a Crew Carwash fundraiser.

Players and managers will sell coupons through Sept. 29 for $8 that may be redeemed for a car wash at any of Crew Carwash’s central Indiana locations. The tickets have no expiration date.

Proceeds will benefit the team’s contribution to the cost of renovation to its locker room and meeting space, along with other team expenses for the 2015-16 season.

Registration underway for Seymour Smash

Oct. 3 is the deadline to register for the 2015 Seymour Smash Tennis Tournament, which will be Oct. 10 and 11 at Seymour and Trinity Lutheran high schools.

There are three ways to register. Online registration is available at seymoursmash.com. Payment, however, will need to be sent to Seymour Smash, 10788 N. Country Road 210E, Seymour, IN 47274.

Indidviduals also can print out the registration form, complete and mail it with payment. Finally, registration cards will soon be available at multiple locations.
