Betty J. Proffitt, 76, of Columbus, former resident of Taylorsville, passed away on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at Kindred Transitional Care.
She was a housewife and caretaker. She enjoyed crocheting and loved her dog, Angel.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Leslie Fix officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be donated to Alzheimer’s Association through the funeral home.
Born Jan. 31, 1939, in Columbus, Betty was the daughter of Raymond and Doreen Stoughton Williams. She married Leonard Proffitt on Oct. 11, 1958, in Columbus and he precedes her in death.
Survivors include sister, Barbara (Wayne) Sisson Gosch of Flat Rock; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and -nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Robert Wayne Williams and Richard E. Williams.
