Ethel I. Whipker, 91, of Midway Street, died at 10:37 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation.

Ethel was born August 21, 1924, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Horace M. and Grace Schultz Spencer.

Ethel graduated from Scipio High School as valedictorian and from Columbus Business College.

She enjoyed playing the piano, violin and accordion, along with painting.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Justin White officiating. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association through the funeral home.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann (Stanley) Adkins of Zionsville; grandchildren, Jon (Anita) Knotts, Eric Bigham, April (Dan) Knotts-Bailey and Donald Thoburn; great-grandchildren, Neea (Jason) Butler, Skye Bailey, Austin Bailey, Maya Knotts and Dylan Knotts; and a great-great-grandson, Keaton Butler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Louise Marie Whipker Simmons; a sister, Marie Elizabeth Mumford; and brothers, Donald Spencer and Horace M. Spencer Jr. Ethel was also preceded in death by Herschel Whipker.
