The Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Board voted 5-0 to declare all school buildings and grounds, including athletic facilities, tobacco-free after students and community members requested the ban in October.

1990

Unemployment in Bartholomew County dropped to 4 percent in October from September’s 4.6 percent. Statewide unemployment increased slightly to 5.1, and nationwide the rate increased to a three-year high of 5.9 percent.

1965

Architect I.M. Pei, designer of the soon-to-be-built Bartholomew County Library, gave his approval for a May 1 groundbreaking.
