Wesley I. Robinson, 73, of Freeport, Illinois, died Saturday, December 5, 2015, at his home, following a long illness.

Born June 19, 1942, in Elgin, Illinois, he was the son of Irvin and Esther (Loomis) Robinson and married Joyce Jones on March 26, 1967.

Wes graduated from the University of Illinois with his DVM degree and practiced as a veterinarian from 1967 to his retirement in 2000. He was a captain in the Army Veterinary Corps from 1968 to 1970.

His memberships and involvements include St. John United Church of Christ, American Veterinary Medical Association, Illinois Veterinary Medical Association, Indiana 9th District Veterinary Association, 4-H, University of Illinois Extension Office, Freeport Beautification Association, MAD Men (Making A Difference) of Freepor and U of I Master Gardner and Master Naturalist.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce, of Freeport; his son, Douglas (Lisa) Robinson of Lutherville, Maryland; his daughter, Angela (Michael) Collins of San Marcos, California; his sister, Marjorie (Jimmy) Parrish of Danville, Illinois; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2015, from noon until  2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m., at Walker Mortuary, Freeport, Illinois.

Memorials have been established in his name at Hospice Care of America, University of Illinois Extension, ALS Association and St. John UCC.
