Brian’s picks

I sadly stopped riding roller coasters a few years ago after a couple of motion-sickness oddities dipped my enthusiasm. But I can live vicariously thanks to folks such as Bryan Brown. He is an eco/adventure traveler who will speak on “Kayaking Iconic North American Blueways — 7,000 Miles of Solo First Descents” at 6:30 p.m. March 3 at the Red Room of the Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St. in Columbus. Brown will detail traversing the Colorado, Yukon and Mackenzie Rivers. The program is free. Information: 812-379-1266.

I have followed some of the music of the local Catholic worship group Giggin’ Fer God for what seems like an eternity. Guitarist-singer Matt Souza and friends’ music always have lent themselves to everything from the meditative to the celebratory. The group will present the free concert “Two Thieves and a Savior,” focusing on music of the Resurrection season, at 7 p.m. March 5 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 1306 27th St. in Columbus. Information: 812-379-9353.
