Driver flips truck, transported to Louisville hospital

Staff Reports

A Madison man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident Tuesday in North Vernon.

Chad Dorsey, 22, was removed from his vehicle by first responders and flown by helicopter to a hospital in Louisville for care, according to Sgt. Andrew Richmond, spokesman for the North Vernon Police Department.

A witness told police Dorsey was traveling above the speed limit in a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado while northbound on State Road 7 (State Street) at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday just north of the intersection with State Road 3.

The truck started hitting the curb just north of FDR Drive and then slightly after passing through the north split of State Roads 3 and 7 traveled completely left of center, striking the curb and causing the truck to leave the roadway and become inverted, Richmond said in a news release.

The department said speed was being considered as a contributing factor in the accident, and officers are investigating the driver for drug intoxication.
