‘Coffee with a Cop’ debuts March 31 in Columbus

Columbus Police are inviting the community to sip and chat at the debut “Coffee with a Cop.”

The first program will be 9 to 10 a.m. March 31 at McDonald’s, 2205 W. Jonathan Moore Pike.

It will give police an opportunity to have face-to-face interaction with community members so officers can better understand and address public-safety needs, Columbus Police Chief Jon Rohde said.

“Coffee with a Cop” began in Hawthorne, California, in 2011 with the idea of bringing together law enforcement and citizens in a relaxed atmosphere. Police in more than 2,000 communities across the country are now having these events.
