Fodrea Elementary School won the Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab championship for the fifth consecutive year, collecting nearly 900 tabs per student. Richards Elementary finished second, and Jefferson Education Center was third. Taylorsville Elementary students were honored for collecting more than 1 million tabs since entering the competition.

1991

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. Superintendent Steven Snider said personnel cutbacks of at least 50 people would be made necessary by a loss of $1.8 million state funding shortfall.

A project to beautify the former Mooney Tannery site at the West Fifth Street entrance to Mill Race Park was approved by city park board members and Mayor Eret Kline.
