The 20th-ranked Columbus East track team solidified their dominance in their 86-45 win against Bloomington North. Jacob Hampton, Steven O’Neal, Paul Baker and Jason Kimmet won the 4×400 in 3 minutes, 27.3 seconds, one-tenth of a second faster than the Cougars.
1999
The Columbus Corvette Club hosted its annual car show at FairOaks Mall. More than 40 Corvettes were on display, including at least one from each of the five generations and some 1999 models.

Mary Beth McAuley was named “Achiever of the Year” at the annual Columbus Junior Achievement Future Unlimited banquet at the Holiday Inn motel on State Road 46. McAuley, who was a member of the JA company Ravico, sponsored by Arvin Industries, missed only one meeting in the past three years and worked in three offices to keep her company running.
