2014

The 55th annual Community Easter Egg Hunt was held at Donner Park, which attracted more than 1,000 people. Along with egg hunting, children could meet the Easter Bunny and look at cruisers and trucks brought over by the Columbus Police Department and Columbus Fire Department.

1999

Some Columbus residents were left puzzled after an Amtrak train traveled between Columbus and Seymour and wondered if the passenger train company had begun local service. The Amtrak Intercity Government and Public Affairs Department in Chicago announced that it was an “inspection train” looking at the area’s tracks.

1974

Vernon E. Jordan, Jr., executive director of the National Urban League, was the speaker in the final program of the 1973-74 Distinguished Visitors Series. His lecture, “The End of the Second Reconstruction,” was presented in the Columbus East High School auditorium.
