Looking Back – April 24

Winnie the Pooh visits with 3 and 4-year-old children at the Penny Lane Early Learning Center on April 24, 1974. Pooh was in Columbus all week and hosted a party of Pooh’s Friends at the Sears children’s department in The Commons.

2014

IUPUC celebrated Earth Day with its Green Fair, which featured 25 exhibitors in the Columbus Learning Center. Some of the exhibitors included the Columbus Bike Co-op, Columbus in Bloom and the Jennings County Public Library.

1999

Five Columbus East High School students who graduated in the Top 10 in 1991, graduated together again from Indiana University Medical School. The students, Lori Houston Brame, Margaret Dugan Workman, Cory Fribley, Kari Clark Wendowski and Toanh Nguyen, received their diplomas at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis.

1974

Evelyn Seward of Columbus was one of 30 state leaders from the Northeast Central region of the American Association of University Women who participated in an invitational legislative workshop in Indianapolis. Seward was the legislative chairman for the Columbus AAUW branch.
