Nearly 50 trees, including 31 cherry trees, were removed, 132 were trimmed and 70 new ones planted after a tree risk assessment found numerous trees on the Columbus North High School campus created hazards of some sort.

1991

Edinburgh Police officer David Lutz was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Indiana Fraternal Order of Police and a Silver Star of Bravery from the American Police Hall of Fame in Miami in recognition of his rescue of two children from the back of a burning van on Interstate 65 south of Columbus in May.

1966

A gas explosion and flash fire severely burned three men at Golden Foundry as they hooked up a water line in a pump house.
