Carol Irma Huffer, 87, a former Frankfort resident, passed away at 1:55 a.m. June 7, 2016, at the home of her daughter in Columbus, Indiana.

She was born July 19, 1928, in Kouts, Indiana, to Hazen and Ella (Jackson) Cannon. She married Robert L. Huffer on July 3, 1948, in Frankfort, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1994.

Mrs. Huffer was a 1946 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and a 1948 graduate of Indiana Business College. She moved to Florida in 1972 and was a retail associate, working for J. Byrons in St. Petersburg, Florida, and retiring in 2000.

Carol was a founding member of East Side Christian Church in Frankfort. She enjoyed playing games with her great-grandchildren, reading, solving crossword puzzles and cheering on the IU Hoosiers and the Indianapolis Colts. Her love of nature was evident through her flower gardening and bird feeding.

Survivors include a daughter, Jacquelyn Douglas of Columbus, Indiana; a son,  Gary (Catherine) Huffer of McComb, Mississippi;  a sister, Bonnie Cambe of Portage, Indiana;  two granddaughters, Lisa (Jay) Pierce of Frankfort and Allison (Greg) Conrad of Lanesville, Indiana; and five great-grandchildren, Abby Pierce, Charlotte Conrad, Jackson Conrad, Libby Pierce and Ella Conrad.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Grahm, Mamie Lowe and Dorothy Cannon; and three brothers, Don Cannon, Bryce Cannon and Hazen Cannon Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at East Side Christian Church, 1759 East Walnut, Frankfort, Indiana. Pastor Frank Harness will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time of service at the church.
