Resident captures burglary suspect and holds him for police

A local resident walked into a burglary in progress in his home and prevented the burglar from escaping until Columbus police arrived.

Columbus police were called at about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday about a burglary in progress in the 1500 block of 28th Street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

When Columbus Police Officer Michael Butler arrived, he found the home’s resident holding a suspect down in an upstairs bedroom, Harris said.

Adrien W. Hawksworth, 25, 311 Kentucky Ave., was arrested on preliminary charges of burglary and possession of a legend drug injection device, Harris said. Butler found two syringes lying on the floor next to Hawksworth, Harris said.
