FedEx van fire results in minor damage

City firefighters extinguished a fire in a delivery vehicle at 25th and Maple streets Tuesday morning.

Columbus Fire Department received a call at 7 a.m. about a fire that had started in the engine compartment of a FedEx delivery van, said Capt. Mike Wilson, spokesman for the fire department.

Firefighters used foam with water to extinguish the fire. The cause is undetermined, Wilson said.

The driver was uninjured but the engine and driver’s compartments sustained major damage. Packages in the rear of the van sustained only minor smoke and water damage, Wilson said.
