Stewart bridge to be ‘blue’ to honor law enforcement beginning Friday

Beginning Friday, the Robert N. Stewart Bridge in Columbus will be illuminated blue for one week in support of law enforcement.

The Columbus Police Department through social media expressed its appreciation for the public’s support of the department’s officers and for law enforcement across the country.

Two Columbus Police officers will be leaving soon for Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to represent the department in paying its respects to the three police officers who were killed Sunday in an ambush there by an armed gunman.

Lt. Matt Harris and Officer Eric Kapczynski represented the department at memorials for officers kills in a sniper attack in Dallas on July 7.
