Helen E. Fischer, 70, of Taylorsville, passed from this life at 11 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2016, at Hickory Creek in Franklin.

Helen had worked for Holiday Inn where she was a cook and was a member of Taylorsville United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed painting, quilting and flowers.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday and also from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday.

Burial will be at White Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Mrs. Fischer was born March 30, 1946, in McEwen, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Edison and Amanda Durham LaRue.

She married John R. Fischer on October 14, 1967, in Columbus.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years; sons, John (Wendy) Fischer III of Azalia and Lonnie (Kessha) Fischer of Columbus; five grandchildren, Eli, Jaala, Oliver, Tanner and Kohen; a sister, Marie (Pete) Peterson of Edinburgh; brothers, Wayne LaRue of Columbus, Doug (Mark) LaRue of Phoenix, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ralph Durham; a nephew, Steve Durham; and a niece, Cheryl Durham.
