Police arrest North Vernon man after laundromat change machine break-in

NORTH VERNON — North Vernon police arrested a local man accused of breaking into a change machine inside a laundromat.

Micah W. Manning, 41, North Vernon, was arrested at about 3:52 a.m. Tuesday on charges of burglary, theft, resisting law enforcement, possession of paraphernalia, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and two warrants for failure to appear.

Officers were sent to the Suds City Laundromat on North State Street where they encountered a man leaving the building, who they attempted to stop, said Sgt. Andrew Richmond, North Vernon Police Department spokesman.

The man, later identified as Manning, fled on foot, running several blocks before being caught by Officer Lucas Newsome who found him hiding under a pickup truck.

Officers found burglary tools inside the laundromat and the damaged change machine, which had between $30 to $50 taken, with some of that change found on Manning, Richmond said.
