Columbus man accused of taking purse from vehicle

Columbus police arrested a local man after witnesses reported he stole a purse out of a vehicle.

Police arrested Kurtis W. Gregory, 29, 2220 Home Ave., on a preliminary charge of theft about 2:30 p.m. Monday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Police were sent to a parking lot in the 3000 block of North National Road where witnesses said the man who took the purse was seen getting into a black minivan and leaving the area, Harris said.

Officers stopped the vehicle at National and Middle roads, where Gregory was seen throwing a purse under the minivan, Harris said.

Gregory is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond, jail officials said.
