Orvil R. Williams, 72, of Columbus, passed away September 10, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. He was born July 22, 1944, to Ben and Melissa (Damron) Williams of Winslow, Indiana.

Orvil was a graduate of New Marion High School and proudly served in the United States Army Reserves. He was also retired from Cummins Engine Company and the former owner of Best Buy Carpet and Williams Rentals of Columbus, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Melissa (Damron) Williams; his older brother, Ben Williams; and a sister, Mary Lou Peck.

He is survived by his best friend and former wife, Marilyn Williams of Indiana; by his son, Timothy (Patti) Williams of Ohio; his granddaughters, Natasha, Abbie and Lydia Williams; a sister, Beverly Williams of Texas; and a half‐ brother, John Holwager of California.

Orvil was a loving grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his beautiful granddaughters. He also enjoyed clog dancing, sitting by the Ohio River and airplanes. A highlight of his childhood was being a cast member in the movie “Some Came Running” filmed in Madison, Indiana, in 1958.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m. Sept. 17, 2016, at Jewell‐Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Rob Hurt officiating. Calling time will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Orvil’s name may be directed to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
