Crime Prevention Month poster contest opens

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department is sponsoring a poster contest open to all students in the county in grades K to 6 as part of October’s Crime Prevention Month.

Posters may be dropped off through 5 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Bartholomew County Jail during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Posters also can be mailed to the sheriff’s department at 543 Second St., Columbus, IN 47201-6713.

Students should include their name, school, grade and telephone number on the back of their poster.

Posters should use paper that is 8½ by 11 inches, and must reflect a crime-prevention theme. Pen, pencil, colored pencil, crayon, paint and felt pen works will be accepted, but computer-generated submissions are not allowed.

The winner, or winners, will be announced on or before Nov. 10. The winner will have a photograph taken and their poster displayed in the jail offices. In addition, the grand prize winner will receive a pizza party for his or her classroom.

Students may submit more than one poster.
