Martha Lee Ison, 87, of North Vernon, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016, at Premier Healthcare in North Vernon.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon. The Rev. Tony Hibbard will officiate. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday.
Born July 28, 1929, in Jeremiah, Kentucky, Martha was the daughter of Raymond and Lydia Blair Sizemore. She married Verlin Ison on August 16, 1945. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1995.
She retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center where she worked as a dietary aide. She enjoyed her Bible study group and visiting with friends at McDonald’s. She dearly loved her family.
Mrs. Ison is survived by daughters, Leta Jo Clark of Brownstown and Patty (Greg) Grimes of Charlestown; daughter-in-law, Kim Harsh; grandchildren, Scott (Sandra) Clark, Monica (Brian) Darlage, Matt Clark, Jake (Leah) Ison, Matt (Melissa) Harsh, Zachary, Ashley and Audrey (Bobby Flowers) Grimes; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, George Caudill; her husband; sons, Denver Jake and James B. Ison; a brother, Truman Caudill; a granddaughter, Tracy Lee Ison; and one great-grandchild, Gauge Clark.
