Ruth Hendricks

North Vernon

Ruth Maxine Hendricks, 89, former first lady of North Vernon, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born Oct. 6, 1926, in Columbus, Mrs. Hendricks was the daughter of the late James and Eliza Lockherd Garrison. She married Howard Hendricks Feb.24, 1951; he preceded her in death March 28, 2004.

Mrs. Hendricks was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Vernon and attended Columbus High School in Columbus. Mrs. Hendricks enjoyed playing euchre and being with her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Dee Dee (David) Lane of North Vernon and Lu Ann (Steve) Klotz of Noblesville; brothers, David (Laurali) Garrison of Indianapolis and Gene Garrison of Columbus; grandchildren, Trevor (Pam) Lane of North Vernon, Amy Lane Henderson of Westport, Lesley (Ben) Motz of Columbus, Ohio, Ben Klotz, Seth Klotz and Laura Klotz all of Noblesville; great-grandchildren, Brendan Henderson and Cameron Henderson both of Westport, Victoria Lane, Emma Lane and Lauren Lane all of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Bobby Garrison and Jimmy Garrison; sisters, Tish Dinn and Mary Harris; and great-grandchild, Connor Lane Henderson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Marvin Sweet officiating. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the First United Methodist Church in North Vernon.
