Rosalie Alzina Day, 83, of North Vernon, Indiana, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016, at her home

Born November 13, 1932, in Burdick, Kansas, she was the daughter of Fred and Stella Carlson Hurd. She married Wilford Day in May of 1976. He preceded her in death in December of 1995.

Rosalie was a 1950 graduate of Wichita West High School in Wichita, Kansas. She owned and operated North Vernon Abstract from 1969 to 2014 and also had been employed at Beeman Abstract in North Vernon and Smart Johnson Abstract in Columbus. She was a member of First Christian Church in North Vernon, Chief Piomingo Chapter, National Society of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), BPW (Business and Professional Women), Republican Poll Workers and Country Squire Lakes board member. Her hobbies included reading and genealogy.

Survivors include six sons, Randy (Marla) and Larry (Denise) Wasson of North Vernon, Kevin (Denise) Wasson of Burdick, Kansas, Ron (Wanda) Day of Germantown, Tennessee, Allen Scherer of Holton and Larry (Brenda) Day of Commiskey;five daughters, Sherrie (Harold) Roe of North Vernon, Chris (Kevin) Hall of Seymour, Tina Porter-Day of North Vernon, Joyce (Roger) Cherry of North Vernon and Alice (Dave Weisel) Schorer of Oregon City, Oregon; one brother, Darrel Hurd of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sisters, Betty Hale of Merced, California, and Maxine Smith of Fresno, California; grandchildren, Donald Roe of Columbus, Craig (Peggy) Roe of Dupont, Heather (Danny) Wasson Gadd of North Vernon, Ashley (Mike) McAdams of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Courtney (Kyle) Cheney of Greenwood, Amanda (Charles) Kuhfahl of Nineveh, Jolene (Chris) Michael of North Vernon, Chad (Elizabeth) Wasson of Sedgwick, Kansas, Lyndsay (Elgin) Vollbracht of Witchita, Kansas, Angie Day of Arlington, Tennessee, Ryan Day of Germantown, Tennessee, Shannon Day of Cincinnati, Ohio, Helen Rose of Utah, Christina Cummins of Georgia, Malissa (Kenneth) Chance of Marion, Patricia White of Marion, Brian (Lucy) Roe of Marion, Jamie (Jacob) Harrington of Augusta, Kansas, Daniel Lewis of Wichita, Kansas, and Rachel (Grant) Kilgore of Augusta, Kansas; 46 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilford Day; two sisters, Charlene Renollet and Gertrude Woodard; and one brother, Russell Hurd.

The funeral for Mrs. Day will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016, at First Christian Church in North Vernon with the Rev. Anthony Sweeney officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services and one hour prior to the funeral on Sunday.
