Donald Lee Minor, 92, of Venice, Florida, died peacefully at his home at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 27, 2016.

Donald was born September 9, 1924, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Floyd and Hazel Gohn Minor. He married Beulah R. Bolin on June 4, 1940, and they were married 51 years.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the 814 Army Air Force Base Unit from 1943 to 1946.

He retired in 1983 after 32 years with Cummins Engine Company. He had also worked several years at Atterbury Job Corps in their athletic department.

He loved all sports and played softball on the Venice Senior Softball team until the age of 85. He was a member of the Lakeside Lutheran Church in Venice, Florida, and was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church when he lived in Columbus, Indiana.

He officiated softball, baseball and basketball for several organizations in Columbus.

Survivors include his daughters, Tomala Hawkins (David) of Columbus, Indiana, Linda Kirsch of Woodbury, Minnesota; son, Rick Minor (Kathy) of Eugene, Oregon; brother, Norman (Norma) Minor of Columbus, Indiana; six grandchildren, Camela Harbert (David), Jameson Flint, Joshua Kirsch (Kristina), Jordan Kirsch (Nicole), Kelsay Minor and Lilly Minor; and four great-grandchildren, Kyla Kirsch, Noah Kirsch, Zane Flint and Madelyn Harbert.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Minor; his father, Floyd Minor; his mother, Hazel Minor Romine; step-father, Frank Romine; brothers, Leslie Noble Minor, Lowell Eugene Minor, Paul Robert Minor and Raymond Neal Minor; sisters, Helen Roe Skaggs Williams and Vivian Morris; and two infant sisters, Barbara and Patricia Minor.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice of Venice, Florida.

A Celebration of Life service for Donald and Beulah Minor will be held at a later date.
